iOS 10 – what’s new and first looks

Apple disclosed iOS X, the next-generation OS for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, on June 13. Apple chief executive officer Tim Cook represented iOS X as the “biggest release ever” for iOS users, and therefore the OS includes major updates for most of apps, services, and options, together with Messages, Siri, Photos, Maps, Apple Music, News, Apple Pay, settings and etc.

iOS X has a redesigned Lock screen with 3D-touch enabled notifications, that  brings up additional information / features, more easily accessible camera, and a brand new widgets screen that houses widgets from section of Notification Center. There is a redesigned control center, additionally with support for 3D touch, and a brand new Raise to Wake feature wakes up the screen which does not dismiss notifications.

Lock Screen

“Slide to Unlock,” the feature that allowed you to swipe right to access the pass code screen, has been removed. The iOS Lock screen asks users to “Press home to unlock” on a device that has to be unlocked or “Press home to open” when the device has been unlocked but not opened.

Powerful Siri Answers and types for you

Siri will do plenty additional in iOS X, due to a Siri SDK that enables developers to build Siri support into their apps. You’ll be able to ask Siri to call for an Uber / Lyft or send a message in WhatsApp.

iMessage

Messages has been overhauled with new options like background animations, bubble effects, rich links, and Digital touch, the sketching feature 1st introduced on the Apple Watch, permitting users to make drawings and annotate photos and videos. Written notes, hidden “invisible ink” messages, fast “Tapback” replies, and greater emoji are new in Messages, and there is even a predictive emoji feature that may recommend words which will get replaced with emoji.

Messages has its own Messages App Store, therefore developers will produce apps which will be used in iMessages. Apps add nearly unlimited capabilities to iMessages, from sending stickers, GIFs to making payments.

Send a message in your own handwriting,  Change the way your message bubbles look, Say things like “Happy Birthday!” or “Congratulations!” with animations that take over the entire screen or Just tap to send one of six quick responses that let people know what you’re thinking.

Maps

Maps has been redesigned with easier  controls, destination suggestions that are front and center, and a lot of feedback tools. Maps currently options traffic info on the way and a dynamic view that zooms in and out allowing users to look ahead to what traffic conditions is.

also, You no longer have to go back and forward between apps to make reservations, orders or make booking . You can do what you need to right from map.

Photos App

Users can now, access features like face recognition, sorting by date, place and person, object recognition, clustering among other things

Bedtime Alarm

With bedtime alarm, it’s possible to set a regular sleep schedule to get reminders to let you know when it’s time to go to bed.

as apple say’s: Your privacy always comes first. That’s why iOS X uses on-device intelligence to identify the people, objects and scenes in Photos, and power Quick Type suggestions. And when you do share sensitive data with Apple for services like Siri and Maps, it’s always encrypted and never used to build user profiles.

So, final word needs to be reserved for this fall, once the new OS will be released.
